About

Our name comes from the unbroken chain through which knowledge is passed on

Silsile means a chain of links joined without a break. In scholarship, too, the value of a piece of knowledge depends on being able to trace it back to its source without a break.

Today the links of that chain are DOIs, ORCID iDs, ROR IDs and metadata records. They connect a publication to its authors, institutions and sources, and to the libraries that will hold it. Silsile makes those connections complete and correct for every publication.

Why

Many publishers send Crossref only the required fields such as title, author and date. When references, abstracts, ORCID iDs, affiliation identifiers, funding and licence information are missing, the publication cannot be found.

Some of the software companies that publishers work with are unfamiliar with publishing infrastructure such as DOIs, ROR or XML; the result is websites that look fine but cannot send data to international infrastructure. What is needed are teams that understand both publishing and software.

What we do

Silsile Press handles the work from producing an academic publication to connecting it to international records.

Typesetting and layout
Monographs, edited volumes, conference proceedings and journal issues.
DOIs and Crossref
Book, chapter, article and conference paper records under the publisher's own membership.
OJS and OMP
Installation, upgrades, maintenance and themes; the system stays on the institution's server.
Conference publishing
From the conference website to DOI registration of the proceedings.

How we work

Every job starts with a written proposal setting out its scope, timetable and price. The proposal is based on sample files and the number of titles or articles published each year.

Persistent records stay in the publisher's name. DOIs are registered through the publisher's own Crossref membership, and OJS and OMP installations run on the institution's own server. When our work ends, nothing in the data or access arrangements stops the publisher from continuing with another supplier or its own team.

We work in English and Turkish, with publishers and journals in Türkiye and elsewhere.

Principles

Measurable results
Every engagement is measured at the start and the end against external benchmarks such as Crossref participation reports and Think. Check. Submit.
Open standards
Data is produced in international standards, not closed formats; publishers can take their data whenever they want.
Data protection
Author and institution data is processed only as far as the publication requires.
